I think the State likes to spend money. What's interesting is beach renourishment only lasts for a very short time before it washes away.

 

I understand the pros and cons but unless they discover "good sand" the beaches become darker with compromised quality sand. Plus, the program is starting in peak season?

 

Combating erosion and renourishment is important, but now? 

 

Back to spending money, several years back the Port Isabel bridge iron supports (aluminum) were all changed out for new (iron) supports. 

 

These brace supports are only 2 feet high by 8" (approx.) I took one of the supports and analyzed it (I used to work in metallurgy) there were no defects in it at all, and were replaced unnecessarily.

 

When asked why replace something that doesn't need replacement the answer was, "It was in the budget."

 

You wonder ?
