Sue Bellows Plymouth / Canton AAUW Michigan Branch

Since 1952 the AAUW Plymouth-Canton branch has been a viable and energetic organization in this community. Members are committed to achieving equity for women and their families. We are focused on educating our members about the importance of this goal. In addition, we are involved in fundraising to support college/university scholarships for local women. For the past fifty-four years, our major effort has been providing live drama for children. The branch “recycles' ' a series of fairy tales, such as Cinderella and Peter Pan, and presents an annual production at the Garden City High School Auditorium. Members are involved in acting, directing, making costumes, and building sets. Not only are we providing a service to the community but we are also establishing cohesion and camaraderie within our branch. Other fundraisers have included book sales and Trivia Night.

Vendor show starts at 4:00, food trucks start at 4:00, music starts at 6:30pm - 9:00pm

We will accept any and all help for the day.

Dues:

Effective September 1 our dues will be raised from $35 to $50

Joe proposed having the dues due once per year rather than on a rolling anniversary, to think about.

We are continually working on our website to have it perform the way it was presented. If the automated billing process works as designed it should automatically bill on the anniversary dates.

Member benefits - we have 2 Facebook pages - please send a request to obtain access to the Members only page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3071749696287488

We’re looking at doing a pop-up food drive for Our Home Pantry around October. We will keep everyone informed

We’re also looking to hold our September meeting in the evening. Our hope is to have networking and presentations.

MITP/BIZZBEE

We have all our sponsors and all the bands and all the food trucks booked.

Still working on the bizzbee portion - we have 17 vendors signed up.  Anyone that wants to participate can still sign up for one or all 3; you can pick and choose.

GCBA members and local nonprofits are allotted a spot at no charge. Non members have the option of paying a fee for their space or becoming a member.

If anyone knows about a local non-profit that can benefit - please have them contact us.

Reminder for all vendors: We do not provide a table, tent, or chairs - you must bring your own.

In the spotlight  / Garden City Buzz that comes out with the water bill mentions all 3 dates, and also includes the fact that we will collect food for the Home Pantry. We did not plan on it, but we will gladly collect and deliver any and all food donations, as well as monetary donations..

Natalie brought a flier advertising the new skin care line by Shaklee including a new beard care kit for men.

Joe from J&J Taxes and more - the IRS is offering a credit for summer help. Joe will research it more and will post it on our facebook page or on a blog on our website.

Adjourn at 9:46 am
