We watch the City Council meetings so you don’t have to!
The September 6th and 20th sessions were filled with many proposals on how to improve the Island and it was a landslide of yes’s from the city council members. Here are some notable moments from the two meetings.
A proposal for a permit to add an Amusement/Theme park on 2311 Padre Blvd (Near Louie’s Backyard) was unanimously approved.
The council unanimously approved dune restorations.
SPI Convention Centre came to an agreement with Gignac Architects, from Corpus Christi, and TVS Design, out of Atlanta, GA to help with their expansion project. The council unanimously approved.
A proposal from Election Clerk Angelique Soto to contract with Cameron County officials for Election services and Equipment was also a unanimous yes. The hope is to have more early election days and more time for SPI residents to vote, along with the appropriate amount of workers to help ensure the safety of everyone’s vote.
Amenities and more accessible access added to beach access 1, 9, 12, and 22 were approved. Amenities include a restroom on #22 and added parking spots for all four accesses. Green, Rubiano and Associates were selected to help with the construction.
