Greeting Dear Friends!
A big “thank you” to Dick Lanyon (our speaker), Ted Denning (for coordinating the venue arrangements), all the attendees and the Steering Committee for making IWWSG’s September 20 ’23-’24 Kick-Off Meeting a big success (see recap below)!
Mark your calendars now for our October meeting, being held at the beautiful Chicago Yacht Club on the downtown lakefront (see details below). Even if you haven’t participated recently, we cordially invite you, especially our SIU’s, to again be part of our Group. This meeting should be of interest to our SIU's in particular. We need and appreciate your paid memberships (’23-’24 membership fees are now due), attendance at meetings/events, and other support. You really are helping to keep IWWSG alive and well! Thank you!!
Come out and join us at the next meeting! We really look forward to seeing you! |

At IWWSG’s well-attended ’23-’24 Kick-Off Membership Meeting at La Parra Restaurant & Bar in Berwyn, attendees celebrated the 350th Anniversary of Joliet and Marquette's Voyage of Discovery by enjoying an educational & entertaining presentation by local author and historian Richard Lanyon, who took the audience on a journey through the development of a waterway route that includes the Chicago Portage, and connects the Chicago River’s South Branch with the Des Plaines River in Joliet. The presentation slides are available HERE. Thanks to Richard Lanyon!!! |

Please join us for Networking, Drinks & Dinner, and learn about the BRITE program offered by Cook County, which provides funds and technical assistance for environmental assessments. This free program offers on-site assessments to businesses to reduce pollution and become more sustainable. Upon completion of the assessment, businesses will 1.) learn how to reduce their environmental impact, as well as how to create a healthier environment for their employees, customers, and community, and 2.) be offered the opportunity to apply for grant funding. This funding can be used to cover expenses associated with implementing cost-saving solutions and environmentally-friendly recommendations that best modernize business operations.
