This is in response to the Letter to the Editor by David Dixon.

While you are correct regarding the Legislative efforts relating to the homestead exemption and property tax, Constitutional Amendment, Proposition 4 on the November ballot also includes language authorizing the Legislature to place a limit on the maximum appraised value of real property other than the residential homestead for ad valorem tax.

This includes vacation home properties and commercial properties under a certain threshold.

If passed, this is retroactive to January 1, 2023. Therefore, it is important to vote in the November election and vote FOR this Proposition.

Sincerely,

Patricia A. Vojack

When will there be another meeting regarding the bay entry issues?

We got the 75% required signatures to have our ladder reinstalled and now they’re saying they’re having new drawings made up again.

Seems like a lot of cost without input from the residents.

Congratulations to a great lifeguard competition!  Especially when it's in your backyard.

Thanks Chief Pigg for the organizational element. I know it wasn't easy especially for the change of venue. I'm sure Chief Art Hurtado was involved as well.

This attached article was featured in our South Padre Island "Island Matters" news release.  Thanks Editor for informing all concerned.

I typically see the LA County, California lifesaving team in all competitions but missed Chief Fernando Boiteux guys. They are some of the best in the world.

Rusty Silverman is in the process of developing an International Lifesaving Museum to be featured in New Jersey. More news later in its progress.
