Early Voting to Begin October 23rd

By Jeremy Bochniak

This is for you if you are eager to cast your vote and beat the lines. Starting Monday, October 23rd, early voting begins in Cameron County.

Constitutional Amendments

Notable things included on the ballot are Proposition 4, which, if passed, will limit how much real estate appraisals can increase each year. This was a major topic of discussion in 2023 when Cameron County received over 37,000 protests of appraised values. Property values increased by an average of 30% in 2023, according to KRGV.

City Council Race

While we know that Patrick McNulty will continue to be South Padre Island’s mayor, a place in the City Council is up for grabs. Tally Ragsdale is challenging incumbent Rees Langston. We sat down with Ragsdale and discussed her inspiration to run and her vision as a City Council member. You can read the full interview here and see the full ballot here.
