When Luis Sarracino and Maria Morrow moved down from Colorado during the Summer of 2020, they needed a plan.
Three and a half years later, they successfully opened the only bakery in South Padre Island, Sunrise Bakery.
Sarracino, 29, and Morrow, 25, have been together for almost four years and live in Los Fresnos. They have worked in the hospitality and service industry for multiple years. They jumped on the opportunity to open their bakery. "We love to bake," Morrow said. "It makes us happy. We saw a gap here in SPI and wanted to take advantage of it."
You can catch Morrow in the front of the bakery as a barista, where you can order coffees or different types of teas, cold or hot. (The Snickerdoodle cold brew was a hit!). Sarracino will be in the kitchen, preparing and decorating delicious pastries such as croissants and macarons.
Need a custom cake for a special occasion? Look no further. Sunrise Bakery is also pet-friendly, allowing you to bring your furry friends along for a great family experience.
When asked what would set them apart, their answer was simple. "We're the only bakery here on the island. We're here to bring a new dynamic and something new for people to see. Fresh face, fresh taste."
Sunrise Bakery is located at 2312 Padre Blvd and recently opened its doors on Monday, October 23rd. Their grand opening is on Thursday, November 9th, at 5:30 pm. They are open every day from 6:30 am-2:30 pm.
