What happened
The SPI Chamber of Commerce is offering a workshop featuring Focal Point Coaching Excellence powered by Brian Tracy and ServSafe, America's National Restaurant Association, to provide food manager certification services to local businesses.
Why it matters
Section 10-12.1 of the City of SPI's Health and Sanitation chapter requires any owner or operator of a permanent food establishment or food processing plant to retain at least one employee to possess a valid food manager certification.
The SPI Chamber's flyer encourages business investment and abiding by city ordinances to improve the cycle and continue to make happy tourists through educating employees.
One certification lasts five years.
What now
The two-day class will be administered on Nov. 8 and 9. The fee will be $200 for Chamber members and $225 for prospective members per person on both days. The certification includes the state exam and Lunch on Thursday.
The classes are in English and Spanish at the SPI Convention Centre (7355 Padre Blvd.)
