11/13/2023 – South Padre Island, Texas, Island Matters, South Padre Island’s only non-profit, online news source focused exclusively on providing independent, fact-based, and relevant South Padre Island news and information, just announced plans to work remotely while it transitions to a new location.

“With our continued success, we are excited and look forward to continuing to serve our community while we demonstrate careful stewardship of donated funds as our donor base expands,” says Managing Editor George Block.

He said: “Following its core values of Trust, Truth, and Transparency, Island Matters continues to succeed and build credibility as the trusted source of important Island information. The organization has grown steadily, with over 100 new subscribers per month and over 1,400 active readers. The organization’s ongoing and future success is fully dependent upon donations. A volunteer Board of Directors manages it.”

Island Matters was founded in 2020 by interested Island residents and property owners to promote South Padre Island as a family-friendly, year-round community. Island Matters was formed to achieve this vision, provide city government transparency and accountability, and enable readers to make informed decisions.
