I disagreed (mostly) with Eva-Jean Dalton's macro perception of what makes the Island a good place. I disagree with practically everyone in the real estate world, frankly. But I always appreciated her nuanced opinions on what was happening on the Island that needed to be addressed.
I could not stand when she was talked over by the other council members. It was always when she was making a really great point she would be belittled, mansplained, and dismissed entirely.
I very much appreciated her willingness to speak to me when it wasn't always convenient to do so. But regardless of her opinions, I was still always happy to speak with her, and, honestly, I wish I had more of those kinds of connections these days. I always feared that she would one day leave the political sphere or, in a more macabre sense, life on Earth, not feeling respected or cared for. I hope she knew she was, and I hope the people who are now coming out of the metaphorical sand dunes to give condolences told her so when she was still alive.
