In a bid to foster informed civic participation, the South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce is set to host a Candidate Forum for the upcoming special election on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
The event will take place at the SPI Convention Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and feature candidates Lisa Graves, Brad Robinson, Tally Ragsdale, and Jennifer Stout.
This forum offers an opportunity for residents to engage with the candidates through the Chamber, and gain insights into their visions for the future of South Padre Island. The event aims to facilitate an open dialogue, allowing voters to make informed decisions come election day.
To ensure that the questions asked represent the concerns of the community, the Chamber of Commerce is actively seeking input from the general public.
Questions can be submitted in person, via postal mail, or email to Jeanette Greider at 321 Padre Blvd., South Padre Island, or jeanette@spichamber.com. All questions must include the submitter's name, address, and phone number to be considered. All questions must be received no later than Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.
This proactive approach to collecting questions underscores the Chamber's commitment to inclusivity and transparency in the electoral process. By providing a platform for residents to pose questions directly to the candidates, the forum aims to create a robust exchange of ideas and enable voters to make well-informed decisions.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to actively participate in shaping the dialogue surrounding the special election. Your questions matter, and the South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a constructive and engaging Candidate Forum that reflects the diverse interests of the community.
