Lisa Graves has been a resident of South Padre Island since 2005. Growing up in Harlingen and moving back after completing a marketing degree from Stephen F. Austin, her roots have been growing here for close to 20 years. Graves has a deep love of the island, as well as seeing the many shifts the island has gone through throughout the years. “I love this Island,” Graves said in an interview with Island Matters. “I’m passionate about it. I’m anchored to this community, and I just want to see us continue to grow and move in the direction that we’re going. Great things are happening.” |

A successful real estate agent since 2005, Graves has her handprints all over the island and on committees. Graves is a board member of Walk for Women, the Vice Chairman of the special events committee, as well on the board of directors for the Chambers of Commerce, where she is also on the Islanders committee for the Chamber. |

Graves’ main focus and inspiration is to see SPI’s venue-tax projects such as the Convention Center Annexation, Quiet Water Sports, and the expansion of the Theater. As well as the Deep-Water Marina and newly passed Second Causeway completed as a motivation for her to run for City Council. “I’m pro-business, pro-tourism, and pro-resident,” Graves said. “I want to see a balance of tourism.”
