Patient Safety Awareness Week: March 10-16, 2024 |
In recognition, the Center for Patient Safety is encouraging the acknowledgment and celebration of efforts to improve safe care throughout healthcare. We invite you to celebrate and raise awareness!
The Center for Patient Safety (CPS) supports a global campaign for Patient Safety Awareness Week, sponsored by IHI. The theme chosen by the patient safety experts at CPS for this year is Safer Together, emphasizing the importance of safety among the entire team, from the care providers to our support staff to our patients and their families.
For effective, safe care, we must be able to provide care in a kind and collaborative environment. We encourage you to find ways to engage everyone in the conversation. Encourage patients and family members to be involved in the care process and ask, “How can we work together to make my care safer?” Because we are all safer when we work together. The items and recommendations contained within the Toolkit are suggestions only. We encourage you to find ways to celebrate and raise awareness that will work best for your organization. Don’t attempt too much. Keep it fun and allow it to be an opportunity to showcase your organization’s patient safety efforts to employees and your community. |

We are pleased to invite interested sponsors to support the WPSC’s 21st annual Northwest Patient Safety Conference. This annual event brings together healthcare leaders, advocates, and patients concerned with the critical topic of patient safety. This year’s virtual conference is ½ days on October 15 & 16 and continues a fantastic Pacific NW partnership with the Oregon Patient Safety Commission and the Health Quality BC. The virtual format and regional approach registered over 500 in 2023 and attracted an incredible lineup of speakers!

Pulse CPSEA’s Family-Centered Patient Advocacy Course |
Leading patient safety group offers intensive 2-day course
Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy is proud to announce that it will hold a 2- day intensive training course, “Family-Centered Patient Advocacy” on March 14-15, 2024. The course will be held in person in Plainview, Long Island, NY. All are welcome — from Board-
Certified Patient Advocates (BCPA), who will receive 14 CEs for attending, to individuals just wanting to support their families in getting safer medical care.
“Medical error is the third-highest cause of premature death in this country,” says Pulse President Ilene Corina, BCPA, “but there are many things we can do to reduce the risks and get better outcomes from our care. Those attending the course will learn how to do that.” Want to know more? Information and registration at
