President's Message

CASIA is back! Welcome to the first issue of our newly redesigned and re-launched monthly newsletter, The Communicator. For those of you that have been around for a while like me, I hope that bringing back The Communicator in a new form spurs a little nostalgia and reminder of the vibrant CASIA community we are a part of. In addition, I am thrilled to share some major milestones with you that CASIA has accomplished in the last 60 days!

Our team led by newly appointed Executive Director Shannon Few, working alongside Pat Remes has been hard at work. This week we released our new website and association management platform to elevate CASIA's infrastructure, enhancing our ability to deliver seamless services and support to members. With technology evolving at a rapid pace, CASIA recognizes the critical importance of staying ahead of the curve to meet the diverse needs of members and the industry at large.

March Monthly Membership Meeting

Key Takeaways

CASIA held the March Monthly Membership Meeting on Thursday, March 21st at Eli's on Whitney in Hamden, CT. The meeting featured guest speaker Mitch Reitman with Reitman Consulting Group, who covered the new Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting Requirements. All business owners need to be aware of this new Federal Reporting Requirement.

Beginning on January 1, 2024, many companies in the United States will have to report information about their beneficial owners, i.e., the individuals who ultimately own or control the company. They will have to report the information to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). FinCEN is a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

As specified in the Corporate Transparency Act, a person who willfully violates the BOI reporting requirements may be subject to civil penalties of up to $500 for each day that the violation continues. That person may also be subject to criminal penalties of up to two years imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000. Potential violations include willfully failing to file a beneficial ownership information report, willfully filing false beneficial ownership information, or willfully failing to correct or update previously reported beneficial ownership information.

For more information and resources to help you with filing your report please contact Shannon.Few@casiact.org.

Vendor Spotlight-CMA

As we embark on an exciting time in our association’s history it’s a personal honor of mine to re-join the board of CASIA and be part of such an amazing team, and with the introduction of new ideas and concepts I couldn’t be more excited about the future of our membership. CASIA from its inception has been a foundation to our market with a collection of members who have been and continue to be the driving force that makes CASIA the great association it is with the respected value it brings to our valued community and life-long friends.

I have been fortunate enough to be a part of our industry for many years learning and developing my skills to the point where I started my own manufacturers rep firm (CMA) a little over a year ago, aligning myself with best-in-class, distribution focused solutions in the areas of CCTV, Door Intercom, Access Control and Burglary, and it continues to be an absolute pleasure to work for such an amazing industry.
