The South Padre Island Police Department provided the following incidents from March 17th through March 23rd, 2024.
3/17 - At approximately 12:03 a.m., an officer was dispatched to 5601 Padre Boulevard in reference to a criminal mischief incident. Investigation revealed that the suspect intentionally or knowingly damaged or destroyed the owner's tangible property without the owner's effective consent. The complainant wished to file charges.
3/17 - At approximately 12:45 a.m., officer was dispatched to Isla Grand located at 500 Padre Boulevard in reference to a hit and run. Upon arrival, contact was made with the reporting party and an investigation was conducted. After the investigation, a person committed a duty on striking structure, fixture, or highway landscaping class B misdemeanor.
3/17 - At around 12:56 a.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Padre Boulevard in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Contact was made with the at fault vehicle which displayed signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were conducted and it was determined that the driver was intoxicated and placed under arrest for the offense of Driving While Intoxicated.
3/17 - at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to 2600 Padre Boulevard in reference to an intoxicated male subject. A male subject was placed under arrest for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest, search or transport. A male subject was transported to the South Padre Island city jail for booking and processing.
3/17 - At approximately 4:30 a.m., officers attempted to effect a traffic stop on a golf cart on the 100 block of West Esperanza Street, the 4 occupants bailed out of the vehicle and ran on foot. Officers were able to catch one of the 4 male subjects that evaded on foot and take him into custody. The male subject was charged with evading arrest or detention.
3/17 - at approximately 4:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill located at 6900 Padre Boulevard in reference to a disturbance over a past theft. Officers made contact with a male subject who identified a female subject who had stolen some money from him and who wanted to press charges.
3/18 - at approximately 12:12 a.m., officers were waved down at the 1500 block of Padre Boulevard in reference to an intoxicated male subject. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two male subjects who displayed signs of intoxication and they were subsequently arrested. The two male subjects were transported to the South Padre Island City Jail where they were booked and processed.
3/18 - At approximately 7:48 p.m., officer was dispatched to 1500 Padre Blvd. (CVS store) in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with the manager on duty in which he stated that a male subject entered the establishment with a grocery cart and when the same male subject exited the store the store manager noticed that the male subject took one bag of chip with him without paying for the item. The manager did not want to press charges for the item taken, but did wish that criminal trespass warnings would be given to the male subject. That he is no longer allowed into the store.
3/20 - at around 3:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to 129 East Morningside Street in reference to an assault in progress. Contact was made with victims and a suspect was located and identified. Suspect provided a false/fictitious name and was determined to be a fugitive from justice. Suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.
3/20 - at approximately 10:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to 120 East Verna Jean in reference to a past burglary of a vehicle. Upon the officers arrival, contact was made with the owner of the residence and vehicle parked in the driveway with a broken steering column. Investigation revealed that an unknown subject unlawfully attempted to appropriate the resident's truck with the intent to deprive the owner of the vehicle, however failed to do so in taking the vehicle from the driveway after not getting it started.
3/21 - At approximately 12:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Gulf Boulevard in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the reporting party who stated he was assaulted by his friend but did not want to file charges. The male subject (friend) was subsequently located and arrested for public intoxication and transported to the South Padre Island City Jail where he was booked and processed properly.
3/22 - At approximately 4:46 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop with a Dodge Charger speeding at the 4700 block of Padre Boulevard. After an investigation the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and the passenger was released with no charges filed.
3/23 - At approximately 1:01 p.m., officers were dispatched via radio to the front lobby of the 4600 block of Padre Boulevard in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female subject who stated her phone was gone missing the day before at evening hours. The female subject also stated that she had tracked and located her cellphone via phone with an app but then the location disappeared as if someone turned it off. Officers gathered information from the female subject and resumed patrol.
