Last October, people all over the world were able to see a Solar Eclipse, where the moon covered the sun, creating a “ring of fire” look in the sky.
This upcoming Monday, April 8th, will be the ‘total’ Solar Eclipse, where the moon will completely block the face of the sun, and observers will see a period of darkness in the afternoon!
Unfortunately for island residents, there won’t be a complete blocking of the sun, as there will still be a slight crescent present when the solar eclipse occurs.
When should you start to pay attention? According to timeanddate.com, the moon will start to block the sun at 12:10 p.m., with the maximum (.896%) at 1:30 p.m., and the moon fully un-blocking the sun at 2:52 p.m.
Only certified solar eclipse glasses are essential for the event, for eye protection, as unprotected and non-certified glasses can result in permanent eye damage. Approved glasses are available now at H-E-B.
The next US coast to coast solar eclipse will occur in 2045, so don’t miss it!
