Fantasy Circle Beach Access #22 Construction Underway in SPI

by Sarah-Victoria Lozano de Gonzalez

Construction kicked off this Monday, April 15, 2024, for the Fantasy Circle Beach Access #22 in the heart of South Padre Island (SPI).

Expected to last approximately 150 business days, the project entails a series of enhancements. These include the addition of a permanent restroom, a rinse station, parking lot improvements, an ADA-compliant dune walkover, and the installation of a wooden emergency vehicle drive-over. Notably, the restroom design mirrors that of successful projects at White Cap Circle Beach Access #8 and Sea Island Circle Beach Access #5.

Kristina Boburka, Shoreline Director, underscored the city's proactive approach to enhancing beach access and amenities. "The City has worked proactively to improve beach accesses and related amenities over recent years to allow for the end joy meant of our residence and visitors," Boburka stated. "The community’s safety is the City’s top priority. We look forward to sharing these improvements with you soon."

During construction, beachgoers can utilize nearby alternatives such as Good Hope Circle (Beach Access #21), just 0.17 miles to the south, or Sapphire Circle (Beach Access #23), located 0.11 miles to the north. For an overview of all beach access points, refer to SPI's comprehensive map.

Funding for this initiative was made possible in part through a grant from the Texas Coastal Management Program (CMP), approved by the Texas Land Commissioner.

This financial support, granted under the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, was awarded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office for Coastal Management, under NOAA Award No. NA22NOS4190148.
