Laguna Blvd’s Construction is Inching to the Finish Line

by Jeremy Bochniak

On Feb. 21, during a City Council Meeting, the City announced that Phase Five of the Laguna Blvd. construction was finished and that they were entering the final phase of the project.

We then heard nothing from the City over the past three months about the progress of Phase Six and the expected completion date.

On Wed., May 15, the City announced that Phase Six was complete and that the Laguna Blvd project was near completion.

“Public Works is happy to announce that we have reached the end of the road. Today we passed the final compaction tests for the limestone roadbed in Phase Six. The last step of laying the asphalt is tentatively set for early next week. Updates to follow…”

Island Matters will reach out to the City of South Padre Island to find a completion date.
