The Chamber of Commerce hosted a presentation on Thursday, May 16 at Padre Island Brewing Co, featuring two speakers from Harlingen Medical Center, who provided updates on the center's expansion plans to South Padre Island and introduced a new family wellness clinic.

Prime Healthcare's Regional Director of Business Development, Kathleen Avila, and Marketing Director, "Candi" Constantine Castillo, addressed attendees, highlighting the organization's commitment to comprehensive care, education, and community support. They also stressed the importance of collaboration and innovation in healthcare delivery.

Scheduled to open this summer, the new clinic aims to provide a range of services including annual exams, preventive screenings, diabetes management, and women's care. Operating hours are set for Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with plans to expand to evenings and weekends in the future.

The clinic's initial services will encompass a wide array of healthcare provisions, including annual exams, periodic health check-ups, Medicare wellness exams, preventive screenings, skin testing, immunizations, diabetes management, high blood pressure checks, chronic condition management, treatment for minor injuries, lacerations, and jellyfish stings, routine check-ups, specialist referrals, sports physicals, in-office lab testing (including flu, strep, SARS, and UAS), and women's care (Obgyn).

The introduction of Harlingen Medical Center's new family wellness clinic signifies a milestone in healthcare accessibility on South Padre Island, promising quality care tailored to community needs.
