Spurs x Visit South Padre Island Update Shows Exceptional Performance

Account Manager for the San Antonio Spurs, Ryan Oliver, presented an update on the Spurs x Visit South Padre Island campaign, revealing that South Padre Island (SPI) significantly exceeded performance expectations. This success is attributed to the Spring Break Escape Sweepstakes, which garnered over five thousand entries. The agency highlighted that the SPI ad partnerships have achieved record-breaking audience engagement, with Spurs partners typically seeing substantial benefits from these campaigns.

Promotions Announced

CVB Director Blake Henry announced two key promotions within the team: April Brown is now Senior Marketing in Communications, and Lori Moore is now Senior Manager of Operations and Events. Henry expressed pride and gratitude, commending the team by stating, "Very well deserved."

 

CVAB Approves Funding Requests

The Convention and Visitors Advisory Board (CVAB) approved several funding requests recommended by the Special Events Community:

 

  • SPI Wahoo Classic (September): $4,000 for marketing purposes (initial request: $5,000).
  • Wine for Wishes by the Bay (September): $10,000 for marketing purposes, organized by the Make-a-Wish Foundation (initial request: $15,000).
  • Ride for Rotary Cruzing the Causeway (October): $2,500 for marketing purposes (initial request: $3,000).
  • SPI Muzicians Run (November): $13,500 for marketing purposes (initial request: $13,000). The Special Events Community initially approved $10,000, but the CVAB increased the funding due to improved attendance and room nights.

 

Next CVAB Meeting

The next CVAB meeting is scheduled for June 26, 2024.
