The South Padre Island Police Department provided the following incidents from May 27th through June 2nd, 2024. Reports are lightly edited for reading purposes.
5/27 - At approximately 1:12 a.m., officers responded to the 7000 block of Padre Boulevard about a burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, they made contact with the male reporting party. The male subject stated that items were taken for the bed of his truck. Officers gathered information from the scene and resumed patrol.
5/27 - At approximately 10:06 p.m., officers responded to the 120 block of E Amberjack due to a verbal disturbance. Upon the officer’s arrival, they made contact with a female subject that was highly intoxicated. After the officer’s investigation, they placed the female subject under arrest for public intoxication.
5/27 - At approximately 10:43 p.m., officers responded to a past burglary of vehicle call for service in the police lobby located at 4601 Padre Boulevard. Officers made contact with the complainant who stated he visited the Cameron County Beach water park where his vehicle was burglarized and several items were stolen. A statement was obtained and a report was generated.
5/28 - At approximately 8:35 a.m., officers responded to the Stripes located at 5000 Padre Blvd about a male subject attempting to take items without paying for them. Investigation revealed that the male subject did not leave the store without paying for the items but was in fact in a public place while intoxicated to the degree that he was a danger to himself and the general public.
5/29 - At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers responded to the 5900 Block of Gulf Boulevard about a grass fire. A downed power line caused a fire at City Beach Access 23 (Sapphire).
5/29 - At approximately 11:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Stripes convenience store located at 2000 Padre Boulevard about a beer theft. Officers searched the area extensively for the suspect vehicle which has been identified however were not able to locate the vehicle or suspects. Officers then conducted a follow-up and took an incident report from the staff at the store about the theft.
5/30 - At approximately 07:47 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Gulf Boulevard about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two female subjects who displayed signs of intoxication and were subsequently arrested. The female subjects were transported to the South Padre Island city jail where they were booked and processed properly.
5/30 - At approximately 5:21 p.m., a South Padre Island Police Officer responded to the 6200 block of Padre Boulevard about a welfare concern on a female subject stumbling. Contact was made with the female who showed signs of intoxication. After investigation, the female was placed under arrest and charged with Public Intoxication.
5/30 - At approximately 11 p.m., South Padre Island Police Officers responded to the 3800 block of Padre Boulevard about a physical disturbance report between one female and one male. Upon arrival and investigation, one male subject was subsequently placed under arrest for assault and family violence and transported to the city jail where he was booked in accordingly. The female was shortly after released and sustained several minor injuries but stated she was okay.
5/31 - At approximately 1:11 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle on the 4200 block of Padre Boulevard about a moving violation. The driver and passenger were found to be highly intoxicated and were both arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and public intoxication.
5/31 - At approximately 10:22 p.m., Officers were dispatched to 3408 Padre Boulevard about a burglary of a vehicle. Investigation revealed that a person commits an offense if, without the effective consent of the owner, he breaks into or enters a vehicle or any part of a vehicle with intent to commit any felony or theft.
6/2 - At approximately 2 a.m., officers were informed of a two-vehicle crash at the 2300 block of Laguna Boulevard. Investigation revealed that a female subject committed an offense when she was intoxicated while operating a motor vehicle in a public place. A female subject was placed under arrest and was transported to the South Padre Island city jail for booking and processing.
6/2 - At approximately 5:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to 7010 Padre Boulevard about a welfare concern on a female subject. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female subject and an investigation was conducted. After the investigation, one female subject was arrested for public intoxication class C misdemeanor.
6/2 - At approximately 8:40 p.m. while patrolling south at the 3600 block of Padre Boulevard officers observed a blue in color van traveling north at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the male driver was arrested for an active warrant.
