Shoreline Task Force Discusses Beach Maintenance Funding

by Sarah-Victoria Lozano de Gonzalez

On Tuesday, June 11, the Shoreline Task Force convened to deliberate on recommending the City Council approve an application for state assistance from the Beach Maintenance Reimbursement Fund for fiscal year 2025.

This meeting aimed to secure funding for ongoing beach maintenance and ensure the shoreline remains clean and safe for public use.

The application was not listed on the public agenda. Shoreline Director Kristina Boburka explained that this annual application is to receive funds back from the state for beach operations.

"It's a standard application for the next fiscal year," Boburka said.

During the meeting, Boburka extended heartfelt gratitude to the shoreline operations team. The team was commended for their diligent efforts, working late into the night to clean up tar that had accumulated on the beach, showcasing their dedication to maintaining the city's shoreline.
