See this IL Early Childhood Data Hub Video |
The Illinois Early Childhood Asset Map (IECAM) at the University of Illinois is leading the development of an Early Childhood Data Hub, which will serve as a comprehensive interactive tool for researchers, early childhood education administrators, state agencies, advocates, and other stakeholders in Illinois to access and work with early childhood program and demographic data. The Data Hub will feature state-of-the-art technology that will let users interact with integrated datasets from state agencies that weren’t available before on a single platform.
The Early Childhood Participation Dataset (ECPDS) is a critical component of this project. It integrates data from all major early childhood programs in Illinois, allowing for more clarity of the services children receive over time. IHSA has been active in this work and will continue to be at the table.

Advocating for Risk Assessment Notification (RAN) |
IHSA has been working with NHSA to share the frustration about the RAN system and process. NHSA compiled major concerns that leaders across the Head Start community have in common, and shared them, along with possible solutions, with the Office of Head Start (OHS) leadership.
The goal has been to help clarify challenges programs experience with this process–like uncertain timelines, lack of transparency, confusing definitions, harrowing process, and sensationalized data–while also trying to reduce the occurrence of future incidents. IHSA will keep advocating for a better system and process. |
