Greetings Dear Friends!
The IWWSG ’24-’25 meeting season (our 77th year!!) officially kicked off with our September 18th membership meeting at The Polo Club, which featured Illinois Pollution Control Member Jennifer Van Wie as the speaker (see recap below). Her presentation focused on the role & function of the IPCB, the Chevron Deference and PFAS.
Prior to the fast-approaching Holiday Season, now is the perfect time to attend our upcoming November 20th membership meeting at the Greek Islands Restaurant, which is always-a well-attended event. (see details below). The call for nominations for the 2025 E. Ted Erickson “Distinguished Environmental Professional (DEP) Award” is now open (see below). This award was established by IWWSG in 2000 to recognize an individual(s) who has made a significant contribution(s) in the environmental field, especially at the local and regional levels.
Again we cordially invite you, especially our Industrial leaders, to be part of our Group and take advantage of discounted meeting rates. Membership dues for the upcoming year are now due. You should have received an invoice, but if you did not, you can always log onto www.iwwsg.org membership page and join. We advertise our members in our newsletters and have a site on our website with membership names and details of the company for all to access and use. Check it out at https://www.iwwsg.org/member_list.php. We need and appreciate your paid memberships, attendance at meetings/events, and other support. You really are helping to keep IWWSG relevant and vibrant! Thank you!!
And finally, I would like to thank the Steering Committee – your behind-the-scenes commitment of time and effort in planning and carrying out our events is much appreciated. I (and the Steering Committee) hope to see you on November 20! |

2025 E. Ted Erickson DEP Award Nominations |
The E. Ted Erickson Distinguished Environmental Professional (DEP) Award was established by the IWWSG in 2000 to recognize an individual(s) who has made a significant contribution(s) in the environmental field, especially at the local and regional levels. This award, bestowed only when merited, acknowledges a specific breakthrough (such as an environmental improvement or activity having a significant environmental impact) or achievement (such as a cooperative effort between industry, regulatory agencies and/or local government) that has benefited the community of environmental professionals. Achievements must have impacted the environmental field, and have been verified and recognized by peers.
IWWSG members are annually requested to propose nominees for the award. Nominees must have been active in the environmental field, typically for over twenty years, and be recognized voices in the Chicagoland environmental community. The nominating letter should cite specific examples where the individual is “making a difference” in the environmental community.
Additional nominating information is available from any Steering Committee member. For a listing of past recipients of the Award, go to: https://www.iwwsg.org/e_ted_erickson_award_recipien.php |
