2025 Head Start & Early Head Start Members of the Year – Is it you? Or perhaps your amazing coworker? |
We are seeking exceptional Head Start & Early Head Start Administrators, Staff, Parents, and Teachers to spotlight, honor, and celebrate!
Do you know a teacher who is patient, caring, passionate, and engaging all in one? Or a Support Staff member, like your lunch person, Family Support Advocate, or Paraprofessional, who consistently goes above and beyond? Is there a leader in your program who fosters a positive, supportive work environment where all staff can thrive? Or a parent who is dedicated to the Head Start program and actively works to uplift both families and the program itself? Or maybe it is you?!
Let’s take a moment to recognize and appreciate each other—nominate them for the IHSA’s Head Start & Early Head Start Awards today! |

California Wildfires: An Update from the California Head Start Association |
We have lost at least one Early Head Start Center, a handful of Family Child Care Homes, and many staff HS/EHS staff members’ homes. [I] have not yet heard of any Head Start lives lost. While families served by Head Start aren’t likely to have lived in the affected neighborhoods, they are likely to have had domestic employment in those neighborhoods. Many are without power, suffering with toxic air quality, and/or have been evacuated from their homes.
The fires are growing, and wind is picking up again this week making possible new fires. The devastation is going to continue. We won’t know the final impact for a while. Because LA is so densely populated, it is home to a large portion of our Head Start programs - we have several operating in and around the affected areas.
