25 Year Anniversary: Christian Care Connection, LLC |
|
|
Christian Care Connection, LLC is celebrating its 25th year anniversary. Over the years we have grown to 7 locations with 10 therapists, including social workers, professional counselors, a marriage and family therapist and a psychologist. We focus on helping therapists develop their own niche specialties. We would like to thank our community, local churches, our great team of therapists and dedicated administrative team for dedication and support throughout the past 25 years.
We have been able to expand services through partnership with local churches providing space as well as our more traditional office locations.
The mission of Christian Care Connection, LLC is to serve as an outreach to the community and as a resource for local churches. We provide quality, professional psychotherapy while allowing those who wish the opportunity to explore and grow their faith journey as a part of their emotional and relational healing. |

Practical Tips Regarding Mindfulness Meditation for Insomnia Treatment by Todd Favorite, Ph.D. |
Meditation exercises, discussion, and daily monitoring of sleep and wakeful activities help participants develop awareness of personal patterns. Such mindfulness-based inquiry helps participants gain the perspective that “thoughts are not facts.” This reduces unwanted wakefulness and helps manage the emotional reactions to sleep disturbance and daytime fatigue. Participants are taught to use mindfulness principles such as informal mindfulness and body movement to work with stressful thoughts and emotions.
The inquiry frame is not therapeutic questioning. Instead, it follows the format of "what did you notice… then what came up… where did you notice that in your body?" Here are some exercises that can be useful. - Body Scan
- Raisin Exercise
- Mindfulness of Breath
- Mindful Walking
- 3 Minute Breathing Space
- Turning toward Difficulty
- Mindful Stretching
- Open monitoring

Solution Focused Therapy: A Positive Psychology Approach
Lawrence Perlman, Ph.D. June 6th, 2025 | 12PM to 2PM |
This webinar has been approved by the University of Detroit Mercy, which is our partner in the offerings of Continuing Education activities.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a positive psychology approach that utilizes the patient's healing potentials and expectations of change. It differs from many traditional therapies in de-emphasizing psychopathology. Future projection is a key element of the approach. The patient is encouraged to develop hypothetical solutions to their problem by imagining themselves at some time in the future when the problem is solved. The therapist carefully tracks the patient’s language and style of presentation. This serves as a guide for the intervention. If the problem is specific, so is the solution. If vague, the directive may be equally vague. Many of the techniques to be described can be viewed as practices on which therapist can rely when unsure of what to do. However, SFT is distinguished by the attitude of the therapist and a basic philosophy of treatment, not by the techniques employed.

Donations are the Lifeblood of WPS
|
As members of our psychological community, we invite you to join us in sustaining the valuable work of WPS. As a lean organization, we face financial constraints that jeopardize our ability to maintain essential services. The costs of custom software and our dedicated part-time staff strain our resources. These fees also pay for our website, our searchable member directory, our two-hour lunch time webinars by experts in their specialties, occasional in-person networking meetings, and other services.
Your generous donations will not only help bridge this gap but also ensure the continuity of our mission. Together, let's continue to nurture this community of psychologists. We are grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to our shared vision. |
