Member Spotlight - Terry Braciszewski

Terry Braciszewski's journey to psychology was a blend of personal and professional influences. His early passions for music and human connection, nurtured by mentors like Robert F. Meyers and Ken Bloomquist at Michigan State University, led him to a music therapy path. However, an internship at the University of Michigan Medical Center shifted his focus toward child and
family therapy, altering his graduate studies.

A meeting with Dr. William Cruickshank instilled the importance of individualized care, a principle that still guides Braciszewski's career, alongside early experience in neuropsychological rehabilitation which honed his leadership and advocacy skills. A car accident at 13 provided him with unique insights into trauma recovery, a focus he later deepened by founding a post-acute traumatic brain injury program. This program, known for its innovative approach to complex challenges, has flourished for over two decades.

In recent years, Terry has transitioned to private practice while maintaining a commitment to his community and personal growth. He enjoys travel, including piloting his own plane and volunteering in the Dominican Republic, and feels it enriches his life and fuels his passion for helping others. Music, family, and a deep appreciation for life's experiences continue to be central to his personal journey.

Donations are the Lifeblood of WPS

As members of our psychological community, we invite you to join us in sustaining the valuable work of WPS. As a lean organization, we face financial constraints that jeopardize our ability to maintain essential services. The costs of custom software and our dedicated part-time staff strain our resources. These fees also pay for our website, our searchable member directory, our two-hour lunch time webinars by experts in their specialties, occasional in-person networking meetings, and other services.

Your generous donations will not only help bridge this gap but also ensure the continuity of our mission. Together, let's continue to nurture this community of psychologists. We are grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to our shared vision.

Research Study on Interoception

We are a small group of interdisciplinary therapists doing a study of therapists and educators who use interoception in their work, whether formally or informally. Interoception is a person's knowing  what they feel, physically or emotionally. Our study aims to better understand therapists’ and educators' experiences at facilitating interoception in clients or students. We wish to bring together insights from different disciplines to build a more integrated understanding of interoception as it relates to therapeutic intervention, to inform training, to support practitioners and to generate questions for further research. The study involves a 20-minute online survey with Survey Monkey. Participation is voluntary. The study has IRB approval via Fielding Graduate University. If you have questions about the study or survey, please email us at interoceptivepractice@gmail.com.
