Dear Editor,

It seems that based on my ad agency colleague, Don Breeden's letter to the editor, I believe that CVB budget numbers have begun to be “jumbled” in a variety of conversations.  I agree with Don, now is not the time to place a $1Million budget.

The City Finance Director and the CVB Director projected a $1.7Million budget for Fiscal Year 20/21.  The only short term amount of budget that was in true debate was $300,000 of available HOT Funds from this past March…that could be considered for some “phased in week-by-week schedule for August and September.  Where at the moment, there is no media plan scheduled.

The Atkins Group would never “Bet on the Come” with a client’s annualized budget.   Especially, as Don effectively pointed out, not in this far from normal time of firm budget commitments to the media.  But (we) can certainly allow for a period of discussion and negotiation.  That is the only recommendation our agency suggested.

Thanks very much.

CEO of The Atkins Group
