Jaycee Juice - July 2020
July GMM Recap.
As we continue to operate in a virtual world, We encourage you all to keep checking our facebook group for opportunities to help and to share things with members you may find useful, in addition to checking our calendar of events on our website for trainings and happenings offered at various JCI Levels! Our Bottle Drive was successful in getting community involvement. Once we're able to return them we'll share how much we raised. Please be on the lookout for a future drive. If you'd like to help coordinate that, please let Ryan or Jessica know. We're all in this together and we're here to support you. If you have ideas for things you'd like to do as a group during this time, please contact your board. We have access to Zoom to help bring us together virtually. Continue staying strong and positive. If you need anything, know that your fellow Jaycees are here for you!
JCI MI Campaigns are underway. We heard from Adam Bonerak, Anna Versalle, and Chris Crawford during our GMM. You can view their platform and more details in the most recent Michigander.
Weekly Focus Group
Beginning June 10, members have been meeting virtually every week to discuss how to collaborate, partner, and be more involved with the community surrounding racial injustice and community issues currently being faced. Conversations have involved having speakers on topics, reviewing articles, watching videos together, etc. A standing call is held Wednesday nights at 8pm to discuss action items and future ideas.
Primary themes to come from this have been *Getting involved with local government *Learning and discussing issues *Making more community connections
Tune in to a call, or reach out to Ryan Kiernicki for more details on how you can help connect our chapter to the community.
Call details are in the events page.
NOTE: 7/29 is canceled to allow members to attend a JCI MI training on Local Government 101.

Support our Partners
The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc for many Michigan businesses; especially those involving contact with the public. Many of our partners have been affected by orders to close or change their business model for the time being. In an effort to give back, we've created a list of our partners along with their websites. We encourage you to help them in this time of need to be a patron as you are able or consider making a purchase of a gift card to be used later. Help our partners who have given so much to us over the years, in a time when they could use a helping hand!
Check out a list of our partners by clicking here.
Any suggestions of small businesses in Lansing that should be showcased, send to Kristin Rhine.

Tips for working from home
Donate Blood "The biggest need we are hearing from our partners is from the Tri County Office on Aging who need drivers for meal delivery. Their congregate meal sites have been closed and they are relying more on in home delivery.
The best support is cash contributions to the Greater Lansing Food Bank and the Capital Area United Way has established an Emergency Fund to support our neighbors with cash assistance during this time. We will be building out this fund over the next few weeks and sub funds can be established (i.e. if you wanted to organize to support a specific neighborhood)
Finally, we are asking everyone to make an appt and give blood. We have a critical shortage because large blood drives have all been cancelled. Please schedule your appointment to donate blood HERE using your zip code to locate the closest location."
Donate Food
"Greater Lansing Food Bank will continue to serve our neighbors who are food insecure during these uncertain times." If you're looking for a way to support the local community through providing meals, or know someone in need, please visit Greater Lansing Food Bank for details on how to help or how to get help.
