What happened:

The Shoreline task force approved to recommend amending chapter 22 of the City’s Code of Ordinances to “amend and adopt” a Dune Protection Line for areas the City has annexed, according to a submitted agenda request form by the Shoreline department.

Why it matters:

Filling in for Shoreline Director Kristina Boburka, Ms. Hughston explained to the task force the changes regarding the dune protection line with the General Land Office of Texas. “Some informal changes that happened with the GLO (General Land Office) regarding our Dune Protection line, our historic building line, and our new set back building line. These are all in regulation to what needs to happen and our policy,” said Hughston.

The agenda for the meeting shows the changes to come. Click here to view changes on pages 7-8. All changes will appear underlined.

What now:

The motion to recommend to City Council passed. The Council passed the first reading on the ordinance change on August 18, and its second reading will be on September 1.
