Island Matters is proud to announce the promotion of Office Manager Peggy Sofia Buntin to General Manager.
Buntin was born in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico, and grew up in Hawaii. However, Buntin has lived in multiple states before making her way to South Padre Island, where she's resided for the past five years. This year marks her third year in the office.
Island Matters Editor, George Block, is excited for Buntin to take on her new role. "Peggy has excelled in every assignment she's been given and now we are giving her more." Noted for her work ethic and being a quick study, Buntin says she's excited at the opportunity for growth. "I'm looking forward to learning more and growing our newspaper."
Buntin performs various traditional dances alongside her family on Fam Jam nights at Lobo Del Mar. Apart from traditional dancing, she enjoys taking care of her new nieces and nephew and spends time working at her family’s activities company, SPI Excursions, located at Lobo Del Mar.
"Apart from Peggy having an exceptional work ethic, being a great friend and team player, she also has a great sense of humor," added Island Matters Reporter, Sarah Lozano.
