The Design-Build Institute of America presents this 1.5-hour presentation. John will provide an overview of what are considered the three most commonly used project delivery approaches utilized in today’s marketplace – design-build, CM-at-risk, and design-bid-build. Each method is reviewed to highlight key characteristics of each, and important Owner considerations when determining the most appropriate project delivery method. The course will also touch on the various procurement approaches associated with design-build.
  • Understand key considerations for Owners when making project delivery decisions.
  • Discuss how the contractual relationship of various project delivery methods impacts the team structure and how the team interacts.
  • Discover the flexibility of design-build, including the various approaches to procurement and contracting for design-build services.
  • Learn the key characteristics of each of the three major project delivery methods.

Welcome to Northwater Treatment Plant (NTP), Denver Water's newest drinking water facility!  NTP has a capacity of 75 million gallons per day, and this fun tour will include opportunities to see some of the technology used to treat our source water from Ralston Reservoir.  The tour itself will be led by some of our treatment staff members that work every day to monitor and adjust the process to ensure high-quality water reaches our customers.  And we may get a fantastic view of Denver's skyline and some of the awesome wildlife that calls the overall Ralston site home!

PRESENTERS

  • Peter McCormick,  Project Manager, Denver Water
  • Nicole R. Babyak, Water Quality and Treatment Manager, Denver Water

FACILITY BENEFITS

  • Sustainability: Hydropower facilities on site will produce enough energy to operate the plant, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Reliability: Advanced treatment processes will improve resiliency in times of challenging treatment, such as during drought or wildfires.
