Speaker Profile: Sal Ugarte, Assistant Director, Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations (EMCO) at Carleton University. Sal retired from the US Marine Corps in 2017 after 22 years of service as an Emergency Services and Expeditionary Airfield Officer. During his time in the Marine Corps, he was an Emergency Services Officer for several Air Stations and was deployed to numerous locations. Sal Ugarte has been recognized for his leadership and operational accomplishments, receiving numerous military awards and medals such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Prior to becoming the Assistant Director of EMCO, Sal was also an Adjunct Instructor and the Fire Science Program Chair at Germanna Community College. He also continues to serve as a consultant for chemical, biological, radiation, and nuclear mass casualty training exercises across the United States, working with both military and civilian first responders at all levels of government.
