WRRF Academy 2025: Process Model Virtual Training Series  

Back by popular demand!  MWEA is pleased to announce the launch of the WRRF Academy: Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment – Process Model Virtual Training Series.  The Academy is designed to update practicing process design engineers, regulators, and operators in the use of wastewater process design models to simulate the impacts of changes in waste stream and process design. Training in process modeling will help to establish a common understanding of the tools for evaluating technologies. This virtual series will provide 1.6 technical wastewater CECs and 16 PDHs. (No partial credits.)  Course is limited to 30 participants.

This virtual series will include 7 interactive and engaging modules over the course of 13 weeks from 1:00-2:30 pm EST (one new module per week followed by a working session the following week):
 
  • Feb. 11, 2025:   Module 1 - Intro & Wastewater Characteristics
  • Feb. 18, 2025:   Module 1 - Working Session
  • Feb. 25, 2025:   Module 2 - Relevant Microbial Processes

This 12-week course covers atoms and the elements, chemical bonds, compounds, solutions, acids and bases, and then moves into chlorination, alkalinity, and more. The instructor has extensive experience in both drinking water and wastewater and can help operators get a solid foundation of chemistry as it relates to their job. The class will be mostly lecture with some in-lab experiments and promises to be fun and informative. A basic chemistry book is included in the course fee.
