Session One – Treasury Systems: ERP Conversions, Automation, Implementation, Oh my!

You’re thinking about employing new technologies in your business (e.g. purchasing a new ERP/Treasury System or leveraging the latest advances in process automation).  What are the best practices and pitfalls to avoid when embarking on a technology project?

Paul DeCrane, Partner, Americas Practice Leader at Zanders

Paul is the North America practice leader and Partner at Zanders based out of Chicago. Within Zanders, Paul is responsible for managing client engagements with a market leading consulting team of finance experts having professional experience in all market sectors to custom design and implement  financial strategy, operational enablement, and technology. Paul is a recognized for his innovative thought leadership and financial engineering expertise  to global CFOs, treasurers, risk managers, asset managers, regulators, and academicians around the world.

Prior to Zanders, Paul was the Global Leader and Managing Partner of Ernst & Young LLP’s Global Treasury & Commodity Services practice.  Paul managed a global practice of over 300 consultants across over 35 country practices groups. Paul worked directly with C-Suite executives and treasures to deliver finance strategy, operational enablement for their corporate strategy and finance.

Prior to EY, Paul was at Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) as a head of QRM’s global insurance business. Paul served an important role providing thought leadership and financial engineering expertise to global treasurers, risk managers, financial regulators, and academicians around the world. 

Paul has held senior positions as the market risk manager at ING and balance sheet risk manager at GMAC. In both of the previous, Paul was responsible for managing corporate funding and liquidity strategies that involved overseeing corporate credit and the issuance of debt. Prior to that, Paul enjoyed an extended career with JPMorgan Chase (formerly Bank One). Here he held various senior management positions in treasury, asset/liability and enterprise risk management.
 




Anita Bubna, Director, Treasury and Finance Transformation at PWC

Anita Bubna, Director at PwC, helps corporates resolve challenges in cash and liquidity, working capital and financial risk management. She works with clients to define treasury strategy, operating model, and implement financial technology. Prior to joining PwC, Anita was a corporate practitioner for 13 years, working as Senior Director of Treasury at Flex, a fortune 500 hi-tech manufacturing company. In her role, she headed cash, corporate finance, FX and credit risk functions.

Her unique blend of technical background and strategic business insight has enabled her to lead numerous successful technology transformations for which she has received awards and recognition as an “Agent of change”. She has a proven track record of navigating the complexities of integrating new technologies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving innovation to enhance operational efficiency.

From her experience, she will share practical strategies, and real-world case studies that highlight both the pitfalls and triumphs of implementing new technological solutions in complex environments.

 



Andrew Doll, Business Analysis Manager at Starbucks

Andrew Doll has spent the prior 8 years in Treasury at Starbucks covering a diverse set of roles and currently supports the company's derivatives and capital markets team. His areas of focus include hedging accounting compliance, management of the derivatives portfolio, and developing risk management strategies around market-based sources of risk. Before his current role, Andrew held positions as a trader to hedge impacts from commodities and foreign exchange as well as supported liquidity management by overseeing short term investments, cash flow forecasting, and credit card analytics.


Session Two – Influence and Treasury: How do you influence the business to focus on Treasury and building out policy for Treasury Departments.
Mastering influence is a key part of thriving in the corporate world. It is especially true in finance and treasury, where teams must work with various internal and external stakeholders to execute strategies. How do you ensure you and your team have a seat at the table? What are some strategies and tactics to focus the organization on issues needing to be addressed?


Morgan Collins, Impact Investments Director, Microsoft

Morgan Collins, Director of Impact Investments at Microsoft, specializes in sustainable finance and impact investing, focusing on climate-tech, fund investments, and novel financial structures. Previously, at Starbucks, he established and led the Sustainable Finance function, developing investment strategies with corporate sustainability goals and pioneering the first U.S. corporate ESG balance sheet investment program. Morgan began his career at BlackRock after graduating from the University of Washington.


Eric Fries, Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Leader, KeyBank

Eric Fries, Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Leader at KeyBank, leads a team of commercial bankers and payment advisors to deliver financing, automated treasury management solutions, and risk mitigation tools to medium-to-large companies based in the Washington area. He has over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry and holds a Leadership Executive MBA degree from Seattle University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from California State University, Fresno. Eric also serves on the NWAFP board and is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
