These two fun movements from a larger suite (a Fanfare opens but space constraints forced its omission) present a wonderful introduction to accidentals not often encountered in recorder repertoire. [The Fanfare was omitted from the print version but is included in the download below.] The deliciously repetitive nature of the Lullaby can indeed be soporific for the listener, while the perky Cake Walk’s meandering key center keeps the players and audience alike on the edge of their seats.
