The Moreen

This ancient and famous Irish tune is best known to the words of Thomas Moore: "The Minstrel Boy to the War has Gone." The extreme high end of the sopranino is required, but overall the piece is quite undemanding. Duration: 1:30

Other Irish tunes that St. Pierre has set for recorder quartet and that are available on this website are Salix Gardens and St. Paddy & Deidre.

Scott Paterson (s), Takayo Shimoda (A), Janos Ungvary (T), and the composer (B) play on the recording presented here. (Note Paterson's judicious ornamentation on the repeat.)
-- Anthony St. Pierre

A very short, fun arrangement of a cute Irish tune, light-hearted and uplifting. All parts are easy, but the top line is a Sopranino playing the melody in the upper range of the instrument. If your cats object, or simply to expand the performance, you might try playing everything on bigger instruments at the lower octave.
-- Glen Shannon

The composer has provided play-along files for the top two parts.  First, listen to the recorded performance while following the score. On the repeat, players may embellish as demonstrated on the recording.

Select the file that omits the part you wish to play — sopranino or alto. At the
outset of the file omitting the sopranino, there is a count-in of four beats. Enter in
anticipation of the downbeat that follows the fourth beat. To arrive in sync with
the lower voices, be sure to keep a steady pulse.

Listen to all parts
No sopranino - you play sopranino
No alto - you play alto
