The dawn of spring has sparked celebrations throughout history. In this piece I have attempted to lead the listener out of the often severe dark and cold of winter into brighter, warmer days that lift our psyche. Good as a stand-alone piece or played as the third of my seasons suite.
A gentle, flowing quartet full of relaxation and tranquility. Set for ABBG, all the parts remain in the comfortable upper range while the great bass remains perfectly happy down in the depths of the low range. The composer’s imagery of emerging out of the dark winter suits the peaceful and uplifting chords that resolve right when you want them to – he leads you by the hand in musical storytelling. This is marked “Moderate” in difficulty, and keeps to that designation throughout, with no surprises lurking. Your heart will sing along when you play this quartet!
