Date: Friday, February 26 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
Audience: Those providing care for auto accident survivors including family members, caregivers, home health and care agencies, and residential living care facilities.
Topics Covered: Attendant care limits under the new law, the fee schedule, accreditation requirements, and Utilization Review Rules, understanding the difference between attendant care and replacement services, transportation, and the importance of documentation – why it is critical to justifying care, tools, and guidance to keeping good detailed attendant care documentation. The session will include a brief discussion fraud and use of surveillance and a panel discussion on interactions with adjusters concerning attendant care.
Panelists: Attorney Katie Tucker, Partner Sinas Dramis Law, Maureen Howell, RN, and fulltime caregiver for her son Sam, and Heather Kluemper and Teresa Hiatt, from Optimal Medical Staffing & Home Care - sharing best practices from a home health care agency perspective.

Panelist Bios: Katie Tucker, Partner Sinas Dramis Law - Katie is a personal injury attorney who specializes in advocating for the rights of individuals who have been seriously injured or killed in Michigan auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian-motor vehicle accidents, and slip-and-falls, and for the rights of their medical providers. Katie leads the firm’s no-fault medical provider practice group. In that role, she diligently pursues claims for payment from no-fault and other insurers for unpaid charges for treatment rendered to injured patients by a vast array of Michigan medical providers.
Maureen Howell, RN BSN – Maureen vast medical experience as a trauma nurse, burn nurse, burn educator for Northern Michigan, Trauma Nurse Manager, Neuro-Nurse Educator, and TBI care provider for son, Sam. She has been an inspirational speaker and currently serves as the organizer for PANIC (Parent Against No-Fault Chaos). Maureen is mother to daughters, Rebecca and Heather both teachers, and son Sam, wife to husband, Jim, prior State Rep, and grandmother to eight lovely grandchildren.
