- Describe what a safety plan is, how and when to utilize it with a person at risk of suicide
- Learn the components and how to complete the steps of a safety plan
- Increase knowledge about the association between access to lethal means and suicide, and the role of counseling on access to lethal means in safety planning
- Increase skills and confidence to work with people and their families to complete a safety plan and reduce their access to lethal means.
Trainer:
Laurin Jozlin, LMSW, Senior Project Associate at the Zero Suicide Institute
Laurin Jozlin is a licensed clinical social worker with 10 years of experience in suicide prevention, suicide intervention, community mental health, and child and adolescent mental health. She brings expertise in evidence-based practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based treatment. She is dedicated to using training and evidence-based interventions to improve people’s lives.
Jozlin is a project director and provides technical assistance for Zero Suicide Institute at EDC. Previously, she was a clinical administrator at a community mental health agency outside Detroit, Michigan. She also has experience as a therapist working with children and families.
For over two years, Jozlin served as a member of the Michigan Suicide Prevention Commission.
Jozlin holds an MSW and a BA in Social Work from Michigan State University.
Registration includes beverages, light snack and CEU's, if required.
