We're excited to announce that the 2024 Southern Conference on Homelessness and Housing is in less than two weeks! This year, we’re back on the beach at the beautiful Hilton Sandestin Golf Beach Resort and Spa and have made exciting changes to enhance your experience.

In addition to our robust lineup of breakout sessions and networking opportunities, we’ve added various fun outdoor activities (weather permitting) designed to help us build stronger teams, foster new connections, and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation.

High-Level Agenda 
Wednesday, October 9, 2024
  • Welcome Snacks 12:30 pm-1:30 pm (while supplies last) 
  • Opening Plenary Session 1:30 pm-3:30 pm "Connecting the Dots: Tackling Housing Insecurity and Preventing Homelessness"  Summary: This session will focus on understanding the root causes of housing instability and developing comprehensive, collaborative solutions to address it. Panelists will cover a wide range of issues, including economic inequality, lack of affordable housing, mental health, and systemic barriers that contribute to homelessness. The goal is to prevent homelessness through cross-sector collaboration, support for vulnerable populations, and long-term solution' (Supported through a collaborative partnership with the National Low Income Housing Coalition)

  • Outdoor Sandcastle Team  Building Competition & Drinks 5:30 pm -7:00 pm (weather permitted). Get ready to unleash your creativity and teamwork! Join us for an exciting Sandcastle Team Building Competition, where our sponsors will judge which team can build the grandest sandcastle or most creative sand animal. Sand, buckets, shovels, and plenty of fun are all provided—bring your energy and imagination! Teams will be selected randomly to encourage networking and collaboration, allowing you to work with others outside of your original group. This is an excellent opportunity to meet new people, build connections, and have fun in the sun! And don’t worry—refreshments will be provided to keep the good vibes going. Prizes await the winning teams, so bring your A-game, and let’s see who can claim the title of Sandcastle Champion! Dress for the beach!

It emphasizes the need for equitable housing solutions that address systemic inequalities while creating communities where individuals feel supported and connected. Additionally, the session explores " Big Bold Ideas" to expand affordable housing, including cross-sector collaboration, policy reform, and new housing models. By leveraging technological advancements and bold ideas, the goal is to create long-term solutions that address housing inequality's social and structural elements, ensuring sustainable, inclusive communities.   • Closing Plenary Brunch 10:30 am-12:00 noon " Understanding Tenant Rights and Implementing Conference Insights for Empowerment."  Summary: Tenant rights are a cornerstone of housing stability and fair treatment for renters. In light of what we’ve learned at the recent conference, it’s crucial to translate these insights into actionable steps to protect and empower tenants. This session will explore key aspects of tenant rights and discuss how to effectively implement conference takeaways to enhance tenant advocacy, education, and policy influence.

Cancellation Policy 2024: If you must cancel your conference registration, please make every effort to find a replacement. Written refund requests must be received by September 1, 2024. If a written refund request is received by this date, your conference registration fee will be 75% refunded. Registrants submitting cancelation requests between September 15th and 30th, 2024, will be refunded 30% of the conference registration fee. Requests submitted after October 1, 2024, or not at all, are considered no-shows and will not be refunded. Verified medical issues or other extenuating circumstances will be reviewed case-by-case for a partial refund. Approved refunds will be processed no later than three weeks after the conference. 

Special Accommodations: Although all requests cannot be guaranteed, we strive to create an environment where each attendee has an opportunity to participate fully in the conference. For special accommodations (e.g., sign language interpreters, materials in alternative formats, additional directional guidance, etc.), don't hesitate to get in touch with Theresa at theresa@collaborative-solutions.net
