This San Diego summit centers on "From the Personal to the Professional: Examining Equity in Volunteerism," a theme that delves into the ways personal and systemic biases can shape volunteer programs and practices, and how organizations can evolve to foster true inclusivity and belonging.

Summit Sessions:

"I Just Want to Help: Understanding the Problematic Roots of Volunteerism and Moving Forward with Compassion"
This thought-provoking session explores how well-intentioned volunteerism can unintentionally perpetuate harmful stereotypes and inequities. Facilitators Faiza Venzant, CVA, and Tony Richardson, CVA, will guide participants through the Identity Signs exercise and discussions on dismantling supremacy culture in volunteerism. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to rethink and reframe their approaches to volunteering.

"Growing Together: Cultivating Roots for Volunteer Engagement and Belonging"
Building on the morning’s reflections, this interactive session focuses on creating equitable and inclusive environments for volunteers. Participants will analyze their organization’s volunteer engagement practices, identify barriers to belonging, and explore opportunities for growth using the Equity Practice Framework.
