Tamara Baubie, MA, CCC-SLP, MT-BC is a dual licensed/certified speech language pathogist and music therapist. She has worked extensively with brain injury patients in a home and community setting as well as in the acute care setting. She brings a unique view of the use of music into the world of speech pathology.
Course Description: This course is meant to be a practical guide to incorporate music into your daily SLP practice. The course will provide examples of how to incorporate both recorded music and active music making into your sessions. Neither you nor your client need to be a musician to access these strategies, but some strategies will be provided for those with musical aptitude. Techniques will be provided that will be applicable to patients with the following diagnoses: voice disorders, motor speech disorders, cognitive disorders and aphasia.
Course Objectives:
- Learn 2-3 techniques that will allow you to incorporate music into your practice for patients with voice disorders.
- Learn 2-3 techniques that will allow you to incorporate music into your practice for patients with motor speech disorders.
- Learn 2-3 techniques that will allow you to incorporate music into your practice for patients with cognitive disorders.
- Learn 2-3 techniques that will allow you to incorporate music into your practice for patients with aphasia.
