Event Description
Aligning with the goals of ILASFAA's Diversity & Inclusion Committee, we are excited to launch our first DEI Speaker session! Please join us as Sara Levi from Waubonsee Community College presents on the topic:  Contextualizing and Connecting with Neurodivergent Students

This presentation will provide some general context for understanding a commonality found in many forms of neurodivergence. We’ll consider what it might be like for students experiencing these challenges and explore financial aid relevant scenarios for how we can best understand and assist the student.

Sara Levi, LCPC, PEL, is a presenter, researcher, and writer on topics including sensory sensitivity and neurodiversity, stress response, crisis intervention and traumatic overwhelm, and the integration of mental health supports in business and educational settings. Her experience has spanned government, non-profit, and private sectors as a front-line clinical treatment provider, educator, and leader. Her current research project has been developing a dynamic systems model for “who we become” that can be applied to support individuals and groups in the goal of understanding, embracing, and taking care of oneself and each other. She currently works at Waubonsee Community College as counseling faculty and as a mental health therapist in private practice.

The session is expected to last one hour, with time for Q&A. The meeting link will be provided at a later date.
